The Vital Relational Functions (VRF’s) are four ways of being with a child in relationships that support their social and emotional development. These ways of being can help to develop a secure attachment between us and the child, reshape their stress-regulation system and enable them to develop skills for healthy emotional development.
The four VRF’s are: attunement, validation, containment and regulation.
