>> CULTURE AND CLIMATE

At Race Leys Junior School we provide the opportunities and experiences that will open doors for you, now and in the future.

Our staff will support you as we work together to take small steps to achieve great things. We will challenge you, and nurture and support you, to achieve this greatness. Our culture of 100% is reflected in our unique school environment, creating a climate where everyone can succeed.

Our outstanding provision means that pupils make excellent progress in all areas of the
curriculum. We call this ‘High Achievement’ and it is one of the three pillars upon which our
learning community is built. Opening these doors will take time, effort, trust and resilience, but we promise to help and support you to find the way through, with an engaging
curriculum that we will always try to make interesting and fun!

We promise to provide you with exciting experiences inside and outside the classroom and
school hours. We call this pillar, ‘Wide Horizons’. For example, if you follow a sports
pathway, a specialist practitioner will coach you and help you to become the best you can be;
often leading to national qualifications. If you follow a drama pathway, we promise to
provide opportunities for you to develop your acting skills and perform to others with
exceptional opportunities. There are so many doors and so many pathways to explore.

Our school history enables pupils walk in the footsteps of our past pupils and to experience
familiar celebrations and festivals every year. We call this pillar our ‘Proud Traditions’ and you will all have the opportunity to experience established events, as well as helping to create new proud traditions.

When you enter a doorway, it will lead to another one – each more colourful and exciting
than the last. There is no limit to the number of pathways you can follow and doors you can
open, as we help you to develop a love of life-long learning and to unlock your true potential. In our wonderful Race Leys community, we call this The Griffin Promise!

At Race Leys Junior School we are firmly committed to values-led education. We work towards a set of agreed values by children, parents, staff and governors. These values are:

  • September = Respect
  • October = Kindness
  • November = Empathy
  • December = Appreciation
  • January = Fairness
  • February = Independence
  • March = Responsibility
  • April = Honesty
  • May = Determination
