We understand that children learn at different speeds and hold pupil progress meetings with staff every half term in order to discuss children’s learning and identify any support that is needed.
Children often need a short burst of additional support to help them fulfil their learning potential. If we still have concerns about a child, we will arrange a meeting with you to discuss whether or not your child may have a special educational need, adding them to our register if necessary.
It is crucial that parents and children become a part of this process and we actively encourage that you do so by holding regular meetings to discuss the progress of your child. We will arrange formal meetings each term for children who are provided with an individual education plan, working collaboratively to identify targets and allocate provision to ensure that the needs of the children are being met.
Our teaching assistants are highly skilled and work within class to support children, whilst also delivering additional support through out of class interventions for skills such as reading, writing, maths and spellings. We also provide social and behavioural interventions which are designed to nurture children and help them understand the importance of the choices that they make.
Ms Foster is our appointed SENCo, who is very approachable and happy to meet with parents to discuss any concerns or questions that you may have. To speak with Ms Foster please contact the school office, details can be found on our contact page. The SENCo is also responsible for co-ordinating the support that children receive across the school, whilst working with other teaching staff and outside agencies to ensure that children’s learning needs are being met.
