Race Leys Junior School has launched a new community café, Mad Hatters Tea Room, offering a wonderful atmosphere and low prices for quality food and drink for the local community.

After soft launching in November 2021, Mad Hatters Tea Room has seen great success in the community, becoming a place to hold baby showers and birthday parties with healthy and affordable food. The space is available on Tuesday’s, Thursday’s and on the weekends.

Located within Race Leys Junior School part of the Griffin Schools Trust the café is a not-for-profit endeavour and aims to support the local community during the cost-of-living crisis with low prices, such as £1 coffee, £1 bacon roll, and £1 cake.

The café is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to everyone, between 8:30am-10am, plus an additional hour in the afternoon on every Friday between 2:30-3:30.

Sue-Ellen Lamb, Head of School, Race Leys Junior School, comments:

“During these hard times, it is more important than ever to bring the community together. We want people to still be able to treat themselves, as it is so important for mental wellbeing.

“We are very grateful for the support of our community in embracing Mad Hatters Tea Room and so pleased to officially launch the café in this new school year.”
